“Midway" between the cities of Winston-Salem and Lexington, you’ll find Midway. We are situated in a part of North Carolina that experiences four distinct seasons. Many of the homes in North Carolina are heated with electricity so heat pumps are perfect adjuncts to their existing heating systems.

What is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is an electrically powered unit that extracts heat from one place and transfers it to another. Heat pumps are not a particularly new technology – refrigerators and air conditioners are both common examples. Heat pump efficiency is measured with the heating rating system (HSPF) or the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor. Basically, the higher the number, the greater the efficiency. We can tell you which is right for your home.
How Do Heat Pumps Work?
Heat pumps pump heat into your home in winter and pump heat out in the summer. They constantly move warm air from indoors to outdoors and vice versa, depending on the season.
There is always ambient heat energy in the Midway air. A heat pump extracts this heat and transfers it inside on a cold day and pumps it out of your home on a hot day.
Heat pumps transfer heat by circulating refrigerant through a simple cycle of evaporation and condensation. Refrigerant is pumped between two heat exchanger coils. Coil one evaporates the refrigerant at low pressure and absorbs heat from its surroundings. The refrigerant is then compressed on the way to the other coil, where it condenses at high pressure. The coil then releases the heat it absorbed earlier in the cycle.
Heat Pumps Save a Lot of Energy
The transference of heat uses way less energy than the production of heat. A Blaze Air, Inc installed heat pump can transfer an incredible 300% more energy than it consumes. Heat pumps are the perfect companion for electric systems and they are perfect for our moderate climate. When your home is at a comfortable temperature the variable speed fans slow down instead of shutting off completely – your home stays warmer (or cooler) longer.
